Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22nd, 1984 at New York City New York. She is an American actor and singer whose talents have gained her recognition across a range of types of films ranging from thrillers and adventures to period films. Johansson, born to an architect and producer, was born as a child in New York City. Hunter was the twin of her younger sister. When she was a kid she was able to begin performing. At the age of 7 She had auditioned for several commercials. To improve her skills, she attended classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Manhattan and then at the Professional Children's School. In the Off-Broadway play Sophistry she co-starred with Ethan Hawke. She then made her first film appearance on screen in North (1994) and was directed by Rob Reiner, at age nine. Johansson was next seen as a character in Just Cause (1996), however she was Manny & Lo 1996 that gave her her breakthrough. The movie is about two young girls that are running away. Her next film won critical acclaim for her role as a teenager who has been injured in a horrific accident in The Horse Whisperer (1998) and she gained further attention for her role as the cynical teenage who is a solitary Rebecca in Ghost World (2001). Additionally, she was involved in various productions across the USA and Canada, but Wildflower was her debut on stage performance. Her education was at Stonestreet Studios, the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
